Happy New Year!

It's that time of year when people are well into their New Year resolutions and are starting to think about what they want for the year ahead. Lots of us dream of a new home to be nearer to your workplace, in the catchment area of the best schools or more commonly MORE SPACE! Well if it is more space you aspire to, a house move is an expensive way to achieve this. Why not add a conservatory or an orangery room to your house to give you that much needed extra living space? DIY2GO can help you realise your dream at a fraction of the price!! When thinking about a conservatory / orangery there are a few things you need to consider:

1) How big do you want the conservatory / orangery? Typically most councils allow you to build conservatories with up to 3 meters projection, but this depends on a number of factors like, how it will impact your neighbours, if you are building on existing extensions and the type of property you have. We recommend you seek advice from your local authority to understand the planning application needs and building regulations required. More information can be found here:

2) What base and walls will you have? Traditional build conservatories involve a lot of preparation and building work to lay foundations and build up your brick walls to the height of your conservatory. Here at DIY2GO we love how easy and simple the DURABSE modular base and wall system is. The only preparation required is concrete pads to secure the steel base - the rest is all provided and includes simple easy to follow instructions. We offer two specifications, Durabase and Durabase plus. All of our online prices are quoted with Durabase, please contact us for more information about Durabase plus. Check out this video to demonstrate the easy construction

3) What is the intended purpose of the new room? For example, if you want to extend your kitchen, you may need to tell us about drainage points or ventilation requirements.

4) What style conservatory / Orangery do you want? We have a number of different styles available from traditional lean to conservatories to the now more popular Venetian Orangery's. You also need to decide the colour - we have lots to choose from!

5) What roof material would you like? Again, we have lots to choose from, from Polycarbonate to Elite glass. Solid Roofs are becoming more and more popular and are available on all of our conservatories.

Make sure you mention to your local authority if you are having a solid roof as this could affect your planning permission! Have a read of my previous blog regarding roof material.  For more information and your bespoke quotation please email me at support@diy2go.com or call 01613751265
